Howdy Folks! It’s the most wonderful time of the year here in Texas, which means fried food, fair rides, and farm animals galore! So fun fact….the first time I went to the State Fair I was 18! It took me 18 years to get to one of the best coming togethers in Texas! It was also the first time I tried fried butter, and my life was changed forever. Today on the blog though, do I have a deal to share with you! Whether you’re an avid fair goer, or this is your first year going, this deal is a BIG deal!

What is the State Fair Of Texas Combo deal?
The State Fair of Texas combo deal by DCTA is a ticket combo deal that not only gets you your local DCTA pass, but it also includes your DART local day pass, plus your general admission ticket to the State Fair of Texas! This deal is truly something you won’t see anywhere else. And after a quick search, it’s a bundle deal with big savings!
Big Tex Approved!
Why should I get a State Fair Of Texas Combo deal?
Let me be frank…I-35 traffic coming out of Denton is the absolute worst. With road construction, orange cones stretching for miles, and not to mention crazy drivers. It’s like the wild wild west out there! The safety and convenience of riding the A-train then changing to the DART green line is well worth it! PLUS! You don’t have to pay for parking once you arrive to the State Fair of Texas! Just hop off at Fair Park station, walk up to the gates, and boom! You’re ready to devour a Fletchers corny dog, drink root beer, and eat fried foods till the cows come home!
These boots were made for walking… JK they ride the A-train!
How long did it take to get to the State Fair of Texas?
We hopped on the A-train at 9:50 am and landed at Trinity Mills Station at 10:44 am. From the Trinity Mills Station we transferred to the DART Green Line, which arrived at 10:50 am. From there, we rode the train straight to Fair Park, and arrived at 11:43 am. The total trip was one hour and fifty-three minutes. When compared to our travel time from Denton to the State Fair Of Texas though, it was easily comparable. By the time you drive, find parking, walk to the gate, get your ticket, and get through the gate, you have spent well into the two hour mark! So skip the cattle drive that is I-35, and opt for the DCTA State Fair of Texas Combo deal this year!
Ride and rodeo!
Now that we’ve made it to the State Fair of Texas…what should we do?!
Now that you bought your DCTA State Fair of Texas Combo deal, rode the train here, and arrived, the fun is just getting started! The State Fair of Texas is a Whittington household tradition, so here’s what we suggest you do to have a Texas Sized day!
- Get there before the crowds! Plan to leave the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) at 9 to get to the gates at 11 for optimal food, low crowds, and the best seats in the house!
- Budget your coupons! We always make a list of what we absolutely must have before we go so we don’t end up blowing all our coupons in one place!
- We always get the root beer, Fletchers Corny Dog, fried food winner for that year, fried butter, fried oreos, lemonade, Jack’s fries, and state fair taffy!
- We always ride crazy mouse and budget for one other ride so we can decide when we get there!
- Walk the car shows (there’s two!), arts and crafts halls, and of course the giant Texas supermarket and grab a few Texas sized treats to take home!
That’s all folks!
Save time and money this year when you go to the fair by grabbing the DCTA State Fair of Texas Combo deal now! Be sure to snap a selfie on the way to the fair and tag it with #RideDCTA to let everyone know you support local transportation! (And of course that you went to the fair!)
A deal bigger than Texas!
