Happy Wednesday everyone! How are y’all doing this week?! With the weather warming up, I know the hubby and I have been spending more time outside on Denton patio’s, long walks downtown, and overall just enjoying the sunshine! Another way I have been enjoying the sunshine this season is by riding the Denton County Transportation Authority busses all around town!
DCTA is a Denton County service that can take you safely from Downtown Denton all the way to Carrollton! The mission of DCTA is to be committed to improving mobility, air quality, economic development and livability in the areas they serve. Which, as y’all know, is right in line with The D. Diaries mission! They also have made it their mission to help Denton Ride Safe during COVID-19 by increasing their safety measures and sanitizing the rides. Today on the blog, I am touching on 3 safety measures that DCTA is doing to keep you safe while riding their Denton busses and A-train!

Wear your mask
You’re never fully dressed without a mask these days! So, when riding DCTA, don’t forget your mask! Federal regulations through CDC and the TSA guidelines for COVID-19 include wearing a mask to prevent the spread of the virus. Wearing a mask is easy and not only keeps you safe while riding DCTA buses and A-train, but will also keep other passengers and at risk individuals safe! Forgot your mask? As supply is available, DCTA
offers complimentary masks as supply is available for those who do not already have one to wear on rides. As a reminder to riders, you can look for DCTA signage on every vehicle for what you need to do to stay safe on every ride. Still have questions? Ask a friendly driver for further information and clarification!

Use the GoPass app for touchless tickets
Probably my favorite feature of riding with DCTA is the GoPass app that the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) hosts and manages which includes regional transit ticket purchasing (DCTA, DART and Trinity Metro), trip planning ,etc.! You’re able to buy your ticket within the app, flash your ticket to the bus driver, and boom! You’re riding safe with DCTA in no time! I liked this option because 1) It’s on my phone and I don’t have to worry about losing a paper ticket, and 2) It just further protects myself by reducing my touch points throughout my day! You can download the free app from the App Store and Google play store to get your tickets before you ride.
Pro Tip: The GoPass app has all the same ticket options as the in person ticket counter. You’ll be able to get a day pass, half day pass, an A-train pass, and more! All from the comfort of your phone

Stay safe and sanitized with the sanitization stations on each bus!
At this point, we are all familiar with the importance of washing our hands throughout the day. That’s why DCTA has made it easy to practice safe hand hygiene on the go with their sanitization stations at the front of busses! It just takes 3 seconds to sanitize and ride safe with DCTA! When you enhance your sanitization standards, you’re not only protecting yourself, but everyone around you! DCTA is also ensuring that they are sanitizing high touch areas like door handles, crew rooms, countertops, driver consoles, and steering wheels frequently.
Pro Tip: When you’re riding, to ensure additional safety measures, stay the recommended 6ft from other passengers to practice safe social distancing. That’s two arm lengths!

Riding Safe with DCTA as easy as 1, 2, 3!
The next time you ride with DCTA, stay safe by remembering the 1,2, 3 rule! Bring mask when you ride. Take two minutes to buy your ticket on the GoPass app to prevent additional touchpoint on your ride. And it takes three seconds to sanitize your hands to ride safe on all your DCTA rides! It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 as a very famous singer says! 😉
In a time of quite a bit of uncertainty, it’s nice to know for certain that DCTA is continuing to put the health and safety of the community at the top of their list!
