Somethings just have to come is a set. This is for sure the case with our Waco trip! There was just too much to put into one post, so I broke it into two! This post goes out to all my foodies out there. You’ll definitely want to stick around to see the eats alone!

On Sunday’s, We Brunch
Okay, so if you’re a blogger or any sort of a 21st century kinda gal, brunching is your forte. So naturally, I knew a vaycay that included a Sunday meant we had to get brunch! Boy, was Milo All Day the perfect backdrop to our girls weekend getaway! The building is located downtown, and is a bright and bubbly navy with coral accents. Definitely perfect for photos. This place is poppin’ from the time they open till about 2, so I would recommend placing a reservation just to ensure you stay on schedule for your day!
When it came to the food, the appetizers were all absolutely delicious. We ended up choosing the Heirloom Tomatoes which were covered in seasonal greens, feta, pepitas, and oil with balsamic vinegar. The whole plate was devoured in minutes! Another yummy appetizer we saw quite a few people order was the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Brunch Quiche. Both looks mouthwatering! When it was time to order the main course, I ordered my usual brunch classic, a big bowl of seasonal local fruit with yogurt and Quinoa Granola. My mom and grandma both got the Just Like Buddy Holly dish, and the seasonal jam with the biscuit and butter was just melt in your mouth perfection! Left us feeling full and happy for our next adventure!
Pro Tip:

Take a selfie in the bathroom of Milo’s All Day to reveal a fun and encouraging phrase to carry you through the day!
True Texan’s, and their Dr. Pepper
Sunday morning after we brunched at Waco’s top brunch spot, we adventured to the Wild Wild West! The Texas Ranger museum is both educational, and quite fun! We watched a 45 minute 90’s style documentary where we learned the history of The Texas Rangers. Everything from how there were formed to protect new settler’s in Texas, down to stopping Bonnie and Clyde. There’s not enough time to tell you everything we learned! The museum is filled with stunning landscape art, bronze sculptures, memorabilia, and more. Plus, they have fun seek and find games for kids and adults to play while you are walking through the museum! I won’t spoil the prize for you. 😉 We did end up spending just at two hours in the whole museum, but there was so much to see! If you don’t watch the film, plan on an hour visit.
After we got our fill of the Wild Wild West, we headed back downtown to learn the complete and interesting history of Texans favorite drink, Dr. Pepper. Thats right Dr. Pepper originated from Waco, TX in 1885! He was mixing elixirs to develop a new medicine, and found that one of his concoctions was actually delicious. And thus, the Dr. Pepper empire was born! The museum is a 3 story building filled to the corners with some of the most unique and interesting Dr. Pepper memorabilia I’ve ever seen! Including the first bottle Dr. Pepper was bottled in! WOAH! We made a mad dash through about an hour before we met up with out Waco Tours for a full blown 2.5 hour tour of Waco!
Pro Tip:

Beat the tourist crowds by going on a Sunday morning to the museums. They are within a mile of each other so hitting them both the morning they open leaves plenty of time left in the day to book a Waco Tour or shop till you drop!
The Wackiest Tour Around
A Waco Tour isn’t just a boring old tour like you took in high school. It’s an experience. The tour guides are all experts in regards to knowledge of all things Waco, including Chip and Joanna Gaines. We got lucky to have their number one tour guide, Cowboy Dave, leading us through the city!
With their van tours, you are taken down memory lane of Baylor, where you learn all about the history of the campus, the 24K gold roof on a building, and where the Magnolia story started. Your first stop is a little ice cream parlor very similar to Beth Maries in that all the ice cream is handmade in store, along with a selection of pastries! Next door is a little place called common grounds, where you can see a concert, study, and have coffee all in one place! The best part is with your tour ticket you get to pick if you want a scoop of ice cream or a coffee/iced tea!
After your first stop, you are catapulted into the History of Downtown Waco. Where they touch on topics like poverty, major natural disasters, and how the economy has started growing due to the Magnolia Story. All of it was very intriguing, and honestly reminded me a little of Denton’s own story. Both cities are college towns, have interesting histories, and are both growing at a rapid pace because of their current offerings. Both have a booming small business culture, which is reinforced on Waco Tours, by a little thing called “Power Shopping”. You have 10 minutes in a store called Harpers Design Co. to shop their selection of handcrafted items, much similar to the Dime Store, and get a coupon if you choose to make a purchase! We snagged a couple of picture frames to remember the trip by! The Tour Guides had us dancing to “Running Bear Little White Dove” after visiting Lover’s Leap to prove that the legend of the name was true. (I mean if it made it into a song its proof right? 😉 ) Then wrapping up our tour with gift from Waco Tours as a thank you for coming along! A coupon book full of shopping, eats, and treats from all over the city!
Pro Tip:

When planning a Waco Tour, use code CITY15 for 15% off your order of tour tickets! Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on these savings.
