Happy Monday loves!
This weekend I had the chance to visit the opening night of A Plain View: Photographs from Texas gallery at the Greater Denton Arts Council. And can I just say WOW! I am such a lover of all things art (I mean I am marrying an art collector!) so this was such an exciting night for me! I just wanted to share a taste of the exhibit with you all today on the blog! The gallery is open from June 2- August 25, a perfect summer afternoon treat!
What was the gallery?
This gallery featured 18 large prints from Jason’s expired 4X5 Kodiak prints and a Graflex Speed Graphic view camera. His pictures include rual communities way out on the plains, to some in our own backyard from Sherman, TX! Which brought back so many memories for me, my grandparents’s feed store is actually right by the bridge that Jason took a photo of! The gallery frames are 17×22 in size, and the print job is beautiful. When you blow up film from 4X5 up to this large of a size, you run the risk of getting grainy photos. The photos from the exhibit have such a beautiful clarity, it was hard for me to choose my favorite! My favorite thing from this gallery is the size of these prints. One print in particular stood out for me in this gallery as being so strikingly clear and symmetrical with its lines
In this photo, what blew me away is in person the clarity of the gas pumps was beautiful. Also how the background seems to get that portrait modes affect that our iphone’s do these days. Now, I am NO art critic, but I do appreciate the complexity and the method used to take this photo. The photos in the gallery all share symmetry and complexity in their own unique ways.
Good cheap wine? Yes, it’s a thing!
So at the reception, Fielder and I tried out some new wine that will be hitting the shelves soon! Y’all, I’m a wino and I love a good bottle of Sauvignon Blanc or a dry Rose wine for girls night! So when we saw there was a wine tasting going on, you bet we hopped into that! We tried the new brand made by Barefoot wine called Wine in Technicolor. The rose was very tasty and had some wonderful notes! We also tried the Merlot and the Cabernet, which I am not a red drinker, but I did enjoy the Cabernet! These bottles will be hitting store shelves soon! So keep your eyes open for the yellow label with the three matadors on it!
The perfect sundress for a midsummer nights dream
So loves, side note about my wardrobe choice for the evening. I don’t like wearing dresses for some reason! I always buy dresses with the intent of wearing them but then only end up wearing it once! However! I think I found a dress from my most recent trip to Tanger Outlets out by Buc-ee’s at the LOFT that will be a summer stample! It is a soft and light cotton dress that is the perfect length on me and just gently hits the floor. I paired it with a denim jacket from Old Navy just in case the gallery was chilly. Finishing off the look with my newest STEVEN by Steve Madden Sandals in GREECE and my new favorite ZAC by Zac Posen clutch/crossbody!
Be sure to check out the gallery A Plain View: Photographs from Texas now through August 25 at the Greater Denton Arts Council building! Definitely worth it!
